How much will Haaland earn at Man City? Ronaldo's salary to be eclipsed
Erling Haaland continues to create football transfer news headlines, with the Borussia Dortmund striker persistently linked to Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
However, FootballTransfers understands that Barca have dropped out of the race to sign Haaland over concerns over his contract demands.
The Norway international striker wanted to sign for Barca on just a two-year deal, which might have forced them to sell after only 12 months or else face the possibility of losing him on a free transfer once that agreement expired.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have offered Haaland and his entourage a far more attractive package, according to reports in the Daily Mail. Although his release clause at Dortmund is set at €75m, City are prepared to give the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, and his father another €25m in commission payments, according to the English newspaper.
The 21-year-old, naturally, is in line for a massive pay bump and is set to become the Premier League’s best-paid player ever.
What will Haaland earn at Man City?
Haaland, it is reported, is in line to earn in excess of £500,000, which would give him a bigger basic wage than any player in the league.
Cristiano Ronaldo, for instance, earns £480,000 per week at Manchester United, according to the Manchester Evening News, and is presently the Premier League’s best renumerated star in history.
He stands ahead of Man City star Kevin De Bruyne, who used data analytics as he represented himself in negotiations over his latest deal, which is worth £385,000 weekly.
Ronaldo’s Man Utd team-mate David de Gea claims £375,000 per week and rounds out the top three.
Club | Weekly Wage (£) | |
---|---|---|
Cristiano Ronaldo | Man Utd | 480,000 |
Kevin De Bruyne | Man City | 385,000 |
David de Gea | Man Utd | 375,000 |
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang | Arsenal | 350,000 |
Romelu Lukaku | Chelsea | 350,000 |
Kai Havertz | Chelsea | 310,000 |
Raheem Sterling | Man City | 300,000 |
Jack Grealish | Man City | 300,000 |
Harry Kane | Tottenham | 300,000 |
There are currently eight players who earn £300,000 or above on a weekly basis in the Premier League, with four of those at City. Two representatives from Chelsea fall into this bracket as well as Tottenham forward Harry Kane.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was reportedly on £350,000 a week when at Arsenal but has since been loaned to Barcelona.
Haaland’s £500,000 per week wage at Man City, though, would eclipse all of these contracts.
