Forget Juventus or Barca - Could Pogba end up at Arsenal next season?
A number of European football’s biggest names look set to make moves in the summer transfer window and few are as big as Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
The France international looks set to leave the club at the end of this season, when his contract with the Old Trafford side comes to an end.
As such, speculation has been mounting as to where Pogba will end up playing his football next season, with some of the biggest clubs on the continent taking an interest in the midfielder.
However, another club that could apparently make a move for the player are none other than Arsenal, according to the Daily Mirror.
So who would Arsenal be up against in their pursuit of Pogba and could they realistically sign the midfielder this summer?
Which clubs are interested in Pogba?
According to reports in England and Spain, the main contenders for Pogba’s signature this summer are Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Real Madrid.
However, due to signings made in the past season and ones that have already been confirmed for this summer, Pogba’s list of options is getting smaller by the week.
As such, it seems likely that the only genuine offers the midfielder may receive ahead of next season will come from Juventus and potentially PSG.
Could Arsenal entice Pogba this summer?
There’s no doubt that Pogba would prove to be an expensive addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad, but the France international would provide a degree of star power that is lacking in Arsenal’s midfield.
And when we look back at Pogba’s allegiances as a young player, there may be something of a soft spot for the London club.
In an interview with MUFC Podcast in 2020, the midfielder admitted that before making the mov to Man Utd, he was a huge Arsenal fan because he grew up admiring Thierry Henry.
“I will be honest. So, at the start, I was an Arsenal fan - obviously because of all the French players, you know,” said Pogba.
“Me and my brother were but my other brother was a Manchester United fan. I couldn't say anything so I used to love Henry and, because of him, I was an Arsenal fan.
“Then I changed and went on to choose with my other brother. No Arsenal, I went with the other one, the United fan!"
However, whether the midfielder would swap Manchester for London in favour of a move to the continent remains to be seen.
