At the moment, the Red Devils have Ralf Rangnick in charge, though he is expected to move into an advisory role at the conclusion of the current campaign.

Hasenhuttl's name has been linked as his replacement, with the pair tipped to work together at Man Utd due to their mentor-apprentice relationship.

The German is currently in place at Southampton, and he admits to loving life at St. Mary's.

“When this question comes up, I will listen to my stomach and say, ‘what is for the best?'" he told reporters when asked about potentially moving to Man Utd.

“I can guarantee that in the past that has never proved me wrong and was always the right decision. There are not a lot of scenarios where I can imagine I go from here.

“I have here everything I need as a manager. I have a fantastic team to work with, an unbelievably good atmosphere in the club, and everybody is backing and supporting me.

“To enjoy it when things are coming together and everything is working fine is the best position to be in as a manager.

“Me and my wife love it here. We love the people, they are so nice and friendly.

“Everywhere I go, even when we did not have good games, they are unbelievable. I cannot imagine having a better job.”

Who is the favourite for the Man Utd job?

Mauricio Pochettino (Evens)

Among the potential successors to Rangnick, the one name that clearly stands out among all others is none other than the favourite, Mauricio Pochettino.

Not only is the Argentine manager a well-known quantity in English football, following his impressive stint at Tottenham, but he’s also been on Man Utd’s radar for what seems like the best part of a decade.

Furthermore, with every passing week it seems more and more evident that Pochettino’s time at Paris Saint-Germain will be drawing to a close at the end of the season. Which would allow the Old Trafford side to swoop in and sign him.

However, his stock has fallen after PSG's premature exit from the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.
