Man Utd confirm Bruno Fernandes contract that will double his wage
Bruno Fernandes has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester United and will almost double his current wages.
As FootballTransfers previously reported, the Portuguese star will sign a deal until 2026.
The Red Devils confirmed the contract extension via a Twitter announcement on Friday morning.
The new deal will see the 27-year-old receive a wage that is similar to Jadon Sancho's £18.2 million-per-year contract. That means Bruno will be near doubling his present £9.4m salary.
This pay increase, though, is in line with the status he has carved himself in the Man Utd squad.
Since arriving at Old Trafford in January 2020 from Sporting CP for an initial fee of €55 million but with potential bonuses of €25m more, Fernandes has been a huge hit.

He made an immediate impact at the club, scoring 12 times and creating eight more in the 22 games he played in his first half season and continued that level into the 2020/21 campaign. Last season, he finished with 28 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
Bruno has taken more of a backseat for Man Utd this term due to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who has dominated the club’s attacking sector. Nevertheless, he has still chipped in with nine goals and has supplied 14 decisive passes, which is a greater ratio than before.
Fernandes a player for Man Utd’s future
There could be significant changes at Manchester United in the summer, with doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at the club.
Bruno, then, is being teed up as the attacking fulcrum for the Red Devils for years to come.
Meanwhile, the budget for this deal is expected to come from Paul Pogba’s departure, although this has yet to be confirmed either by club or the player.
Nevertheless, by backing Fernandes with a new four-year contract, Man Utd appear to have disclosed some of their future plans.
