The Chelsea players Man Utd should sign
Chelsea are a club in crisis due to the sanctions placed on owner Roman Abramovich by the UK government, but it is a situation that Manchester United should look to take advantage of.
The Red Devils find themselves fighting just to make the Champions League spots next season, although they could be given a helping hand if the Blues are forced into insolvency, which would result in a nine-point penalty.
In the longer term, though, there is the possibility that Man Utd may be able to attract some of the Stamford Bridge side’s best players to Old Trafford.
According to the Telegraph, there are Chelsea players seeking to sever their contracts with the club, meaning they would be available on free transfers in the summer.
Assuming that every Chelsea player was up for grabs then, who might Man Utd prioritise to sign?
Five Chelsea stars Man Utd should sign
Given the central defensive issues that the Red Devils have faced this summer, there are several players in this sector they should target. Antonio Rudiger has already been linked with them, while Thiago Silva is the type of composed defender they have lacked at times this season.
With the future of Luke Shaw uncertain, Ben Chilwell would also be a smart pick up for Man Utd on the left side of their defence.
In midfield, N’Golo Kante has been a dream foil to Paul Pogba at international level. Indeed, France have never lost when the pair have started a game together. If Man Utd plan on keeping Pogba, whose own deal is up at the end of the season, then he would be a dream addition to their ranks.
Ralf Rangnick might also be tempted to look at both Kai Havertz and Timo Werner offensively. Rangnick, of course, knows Werner well from his days at RB Leipzig and could rekindle the Germany star’s career at the top level. Havertz, meanwhile, might have struggled for consistency at Chelsea but he has proven himself to be the type of big-game player that has been missing at Man Utd in recent times.
There are at least, then, five players who Man Utd could raid Chelsea for if the situation at Stamford Bridge continues to deteriorate.
