The Portuguese superstar travelled to Madrid on Saturday with his partner Georgina Rodriguez.

Officially, the pair were just there on a mini-break and, according to Diario AS, they dined at a number of top restaurants, including Filandon – which is famed for its fish.

However, Ronaldo’s trip to Madrid has inevitably led to talk that he could be looking to return to his former club.

Cristiano’s future at Manchester United past this season is very much in doubt.

Ronaldo returned to Man Utd last summer after 12 years away in a much-publicised transfer from Juventus.

The Portuguese superstar was aiming to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford and challenge for major trophies.

However, after a great individual start to the season – with 14 goals by the end of 2021 – the fortunes of Ronaldo and Man Utd have plummeted.

Cristiano has scored just once in 2022 and Man Utd are struggling to qualify for the Champions League.

This has led to numerous reports that Ronaldo will find himself a new club next season, something that will certainly happen it seems if United don't make it into the top four.

Real Madrid are one of just a handful of clubs that can afford Ronaldo’s wages and they are looking to sign two attackers this summer – with one of these likely to be Kylian Mbappe.

Ronaldo would likely jump at the chance of returning to Madrid. He wants to continue to play at the highest level for a Champions League-challenging team.

The 37-year-old enjoyed a glittering spell at Madrid from 2009 to 2018, breaking virtually every individual record at the club and winning multiple honours.
