Haaland will play for Man City next season after agreeing terms on a five-year contract at the Etihad.

Man City will pay Borussia Dortmund €60 million, which was the release clause in his contract. It had initially been thought that the release clause was €75m.

Haaland has turned down Real Madrid and Barcelona in order to join the English champions and league leaders.

WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?

The salary on offer from Man City will naturally have played a big role in Haaland’s decision.

In earning €439,000 per week, the Norwegian star will take home an astonishing €22.9m per year.

Haaland will thus become his new team’s highest-paid player along with Kevin de Bruyne.

It is these kind of figures that help explain why Barcelona, as exclusively reported by FootballTransfers, decided to pull out of a deal for Haaland.

Madrid also are not in a position financially to offer these kind of figures in the same summer in which they are expected to sign Kylian Mbappe on a huge contract.

Haaland has enjoyed two superb years at Borussia Dortmund since joining from RB Salzburg in January 2020.

He has scored 85 goals in just 88 games for the club in all competitions.
