Liverpool have confirmed that Jurgen Klopp has agreed a two-year extension to his contract, keeping him at the club until 2026.

The German had been expected to leave in 2024, but this news changes all that.

He has won five trophies during his time in charge, most notably the Champions League and Premier League in back-to-back seasons, and could win a historic quadruple this campaign.

But, none of that would've been achieved without some of the excellent signings he has brought to the club. FootballTransfers lists Klopp's 10 best Liverpool signings.

Sadio Mane - €40m (from Southampton, 2016)

The fist major, big money signing of the Klopp era at Liverpool was Sadio Mane. The Senegalese forward had scored twice against Klopp's side the previous season and it convinced the club to back their manager and sign him.

Initially deployed on the right flank due to Philippe Coutinho's presence on the left, Mane began life electrically scoring what turned out to be the winning goal in a 4-3 victory over Arsenal on his debut.

He has since moved to the left wing and recently through the middle and has excelled in each position. A Liverpool legend, Mane has been through almost all of Klopp's journey at the club and has scored over 100 Premier League goals thanks to his time at Anfield.

Georginio Wijnaldum - €30m (from Newcastle, 2016)

Arriving as a player who featured heavily as a left midfielder at Newcastle, Klopp transformed Georginio Wijnaldum into one of the best central midfielder in the English game and one who perfected the role asked of him.

Not the most glamourous player, Wijnaldum allowed the full-backs to push on, which enabled Klopp's system to function during the Dutchman's time at the club.

He scored two in the famous comeback against Barcelona on Liverpool's way to the Champions League trophy in 2019.

Joel Matip - Free (from Schalke, 2016)

Signed for no transfer fee, Joel Matip has been one of the most underrated players in the Premier League since joining Liverpool. He's still yet to make over 30 league appearances during his time at the club, but Matip has been a reliable presence throughout Klopp's time.

Although he was displaced by Joe Gomez for a brief period of time, he's now firmly first-choice despite Ibrahima Konate's presence in the background.

He's played a huge role in getting Liverpool back to the very top.

Andrew Robertson - €9.5m (from Hull, 2017)

It's not often a signing from a relegated Premier League side works out this well. In fact, Andy Robertson is out on his own in that regard.

He took his time to get into the starting XI, but he's now firmly one of the best full-backs in world football and a prime example of Klopp's coaching and development of players.

The Scottish international has hit double digits for league assists in three of the past four seasons and plays a vital role on the opposite flank to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Mohamed Salah - €39m (from Roma, 2017)

From an outcast at Chelsea to a star at Liverpool - Mohamed Salah is arguably Klopp's greatest ever signing. The Egyptian forward has scored over 150 goals for the Anfield club, and played a pivotal role in their Champions League triumph, scoring in the final, and their Premier League title.

He won the Premier League Golden Boot in his first two campaigns at Liverpool and no player in the division has scored more goals since his arrival at Anfield.

He will go down a Liverpool legend, and is in the running for the 2022 Ballon d'Or.

Virgil van Dijk - €84m (from Southampton, 2018)

The pressure was on when Liverpool broke the world-record transfer fee for a defender when Virgil van Dijk arrived, but he's paid that amount back twice over with his performances.

Widely recognised as the best defender in the world, Van Dijk came second in the 2019 Ballon d'Or awards and is a large reason for Liverpool's stellar defensive record. He also won the 2018/19 PFA Player of the Year despite Liverpool missing out on the title to Manchester City.

Alisson - €66.5m (from Roma, 2018)

Signed using the money gained from Philippe Coutinho's sale, Alisson Becker has arguably been the best goalkeeper in the world since joining Liverpool and like most on this list has been a major factor in their recent success.

He was signed after Liverpool's Champions League loss to Real Madrid and won the competition in his debut year.

Alisson won the Best FIFA goalkeeper of the year in 2019 following his immense performances in Liverpool's European run.

Fabinho - €48m (from Monaco, 2018)

With James Milner ageing out, Liverpool's midfield needed a refresh in 2018 and Fabinho was the perfect man for the job. Like Robertson it took a while for the Brazilian to adjust, but he's now an undroppable piece of Klopp's starting XI.

The creative players in Liverpool's side are given licence to express themselves thanks to Fabinho and the same can be said for the rampant full-backs. Without Fabinho, Liverpool wouldn't function and he remains one of their most important players.

Diogo Jota - €50m (from Wolves, 2020)

With Roberto Firmino beginning to be eased out of the side, Diogo Jota was signed in advanced preparation for the Brazilian's decline. However, he's been so impressive in Merseyside that Firmino has been reduced to a role off the bench for over a year now.

A promising talent at Wolves, Jota has exploded into life at Anfield and is now one of the Premier League's most dangerous forwards. Klopp's coaching has worked wonders again.

Thiago - €23.5m (from Bayern Munich, 2020)

The final player on this list is perhaps the most naturally talented. Thiago Alcantara has struggled with injury problems at Liverpool, but his form in 2022 has reminded the world of his talent.

A midfielder who oozes class, Thiago has been a world-class player for nearly a decade and his technical ability has breathed new life into Liverpool's midfield.
