Arsenal have been one of the most impressive teams in the Premier League since the turn of the year.

Not only has Mikel Arteta got his young and exciting side playing good football, but they’re also picking up results as they make a push for a top four finish.

However, success is always a double-edged sword in football and the North London side’s turnaround under their manager has led to renewed interest in some of their best players.

One such player is none other than Kieran Tierney, who has impressed as a full-back and in central defence for Arsenal since making the move from Celtic.

According to reports in Spain, the Scotland international’s performances have attracted the interest of both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

However, according to Football London, the defender is set to reject any interest from the Spanish giants to opt for a stay at Arsenal. And in many ways that seems to make a lot of sense.

Why Tierney will reject Barca and Madrid

Perhaps the most obvious reason behind Tierney’s urge to stay at Arsenal is simply because he’s a central figure in Arteta’s turnaround at the club.

Whether at centre back or at left-back, Tierney has become a pivotal player for the Premier League side and is considered a future captain of the club by many fans.

Add to that the prospect of playing in the Champions League next season and the hope of challenging for major trophies in the coming seasons and it’s easy to see why Tierney would want to stay put at Arsenal.

Another factor in all of this is also the fact that both Madrid and Barca are in huge transitional periods at the moment and are some distance away from being able to challenge for major trophies in Europe themselves.

As such, Tierney may prefer to stick with what he knows at Arsenal rather than make the move to Spain and be exposed to some serious risks.
