Wolves anticipating Manchester United move for Ruben Neves
Manchester United have long been linked with a move for Wolverhampton midfielder Ruben Neves, and the midfielder’s club are anticipating a bid in the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese midfielder has been playing at Molineux since the summer of 2017, and has constantly improved since Wolves reached the Premier League, becoming one of the best midfielders in the country.
Recently, he has been linked with a move away from the club and move to a side with consistent European football, and the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham have been touted as potential destinations.
Could Manchester United sign Ruben Neves?
The 25-year-old is managed by Gestifute – an agency led by super-agent Jorge Mendes – and they have a close relationship with the Red Devils; it is believed they are open to the idea of the player moving to Manchester.
The Old Trafford club are set to have a busy summer with Mendes, with discussions over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future a big topic, as well as talks over other targets, and Neves could be another negotiating point.
Ralf Rangnick previously admitted this will be a busy transfer window, and a midfielder is one of the club’s transfer priorities with Neves and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips two big targets.
Earlier in the season, Wolves boss Bruno Lage said Neves was worth £100 million, but this is largely believed to be a ploy to put other teams off.
Neves has a contract at Molineux until 2024, and it’s unlikely that he will extend that has he looks to move on to the next step in his career, despite the club’s willingness to add a few more years to it.

Earlier this week, it was also said that Neves made it clear to the club that he wouldn’t consider extending his deal, as he wishes to play in the Champions League.
With new manager Erik ten Hag coming to Manchester United in the summer, it’s possible that Neves is seen as the centerpiece, and Neves could be the ideal signing to get the team back on the right track.
