Darwin Nunez v Erling Haaland: Cost, games, goals, trophies, stats
Last season’s top two in the Premier League have hit the ground running in the transfer window early on as Manchester City have signed Erling Haaland and Liverpool have agreed a deal for Darwin Nunez.
Haaland joins the Premier League champions after two-and-a-half years at Borussia Dortmund, while Nunez moves from Benfica after an impressive season in Portugal.
The pair are expected to lead the line for their respective sides as City and Liverpool refresh their attacking force to challenge for the title once again.
So, how do the two forwards compare to each other?
Cost
Nunez’s move to Liverpool cost them a €75 million fee plus add-ons to reach a €100 million package in what is set to become Liverpool’s record signing if those add-ons are paid off.
Haaland joined Manchester City on a €62 million fee plus add-ons of €13.8 million in what is set to be a €75.8 million package for the Norwegian forward.
The Uruguayan forward costs more here, but if agent pay-outs are calculated, it seems as though Haaland would be the pricier of the two.

Games
Both forwards are still young but have a wealth of experience, having played so much football at the ages of 21 (Haaland) and 22 (Nunez).
Haaland has played 200 career matches at club level, representing the likes of Molde in Norway, Red Bull Salzburg in Austria and Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
Nunez, meanwhile, has played 139 matches for Penarol in Uruguay, Almeria in the Spanish second division and Benfica in Portugal.
They’ve also both played for their nations – Haaland has represented Norway 21 times, while Nunez has played 11 matches for Uruguay.
Goals
In terms of goalscoring, they are two efficient forwards having been consistent at that aspect throughout their short careers.
Haaland has scored 155 goals for his clubs, including an impressive 86 goals in 89 appearances for Borussia Dortmund – 62 of which came in the Bundesliga.
Nunez, meanwhile, has scored 68 career goals, 34 of which came in the past season for Benfica where he was on fire in the league and Champions League.
For their countries, Haaland has scored 20 goals and is on course to become Norway’s top scorer soon, while Nunez has scored twice for Uruguay.
The fastest and youngest player in history to reach 20 Champions League goals 🤯
No doubt this man will be a SERIOUS problem for defenders next season 😤

Trophies
There haven’t been many trophies in both players’ careers, but that is something they are hoping to change as they join their new clubs.
Haaland has won four trophies throughout his senior football career, which include two Austrian Bundesliga titles, one Austrian Cup and one DFB Pokal.
Nunez, meanwhile, is yet to win a trophy in Europe having won the Uruguayan top-flight title twice with Penarol in 2017 and 2018.
