Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal: When will the transfer be done?
Gabriel Jesus is close to completing his transfer to Arsenal from Manchester City, with the clubs agreeing a package worth £45 million.
Jesus has been a leading target for the Gunners all summer. The Brazil international striker is set to become their first-choice figure in the No.9 role, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette having been moved on since the beginning of the year.
Meanwhile, the South American’s stock fell at Man City when they beat off strong competition from around Europe to capture Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The Norway international is expected to become an unmoveable figure at the Etihad for years to come.
With his prospects of first-team football limited, Jesus has elected to move to Arsenal, and it appears now that only the formalities need to be completed. Goal reports, for instance, that agreeing personal terms should prove no problems. Much of the groundwork in this case is already said to have been put in place by Edu.
Although there are not expected to be any hiccups before the transfer is made official, it may still be several days before everything is completely ironed out.
Gabriel Jesus transfer days away from becoming official
Indeed, Arsenal are said to want Gabriel Jesus in their squad for their pre-season tour of the USA, but they will not leave for that trip, which includes friendlies against Everton and Orlando City plus the Florida Cup, until the middle of July. This gives them an extensive window in which to get the deal over the line.
The Gunners have already made impressive progress in the summer transfer window, having captured Matt Turner from the New England Revolution and Brazilian prospect Marquinhos from Sao Paulo before landing Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira.
Gabriel Jesus is set to be their fourth significant signing of the summer – and the Manchester City man is set to be their marquee arrival in what is a big transfer window for Arsenal.
