Chelsea fans have slammed Romelu Lukaku following the Belgian striker's return to Inter Milan on loan.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea from Inter last summer, signing on for a fee of €112.7/£97.5 million amid much fanfare.

But the striker - who ended the previous campaign with 24 league goals as Inter won the Serie A title - bombed in West London, returning just eight top-flight strikes in 26 outings.

The 29-year-old, who boasts 68 goals in 102 caps for Belgium, will now return to Italy with his tail between his legs after Inter agreed to pay an €8/£6.8m loan fee plus add-ons.

Neither set of fans happy with Lukaku

"It is a case of good riddance to Lukaku," one Chelsea supporter told talkSPORT. "It is a case of that. You know they always say you should never go back. One game he had seven touches! His whole attitude. His interview. Everything."

"It's like a who's who of world class strikers who seem to pull on the No.9 shirt at Chelsea and their legs turn to jelly," lamented another.

"I think what's such a disappointment with Lukaku is that he's had two goes, not one go but two goes," said a third, pointing out the fact Lukaku first signed for Chelsea as an 18-year-old in 2011.

Some fans labelled Lukaku as 'the worst signing in the club's history', while also complaining of the deal, with one fan tweeting: "Chelsea should open a case of fraud against Inter and Lukaku! Robbed us of £90m for a season long loan!"

While Chelsea fans are understandably disgruntled with a player who needed 198 minutes per goal last season, it seems Inter fans aren't ready to welcome him back with open arms either.

Inter's ultra group Curva Nord posted on their Instagram account strict instructions to their fellow fans.

"Since Lukaku's return to Inter is very likely, some points need to be made clear," they wrote. "The Curva Nord supports Inter and will not make any objection to the player (despite last summer’s behaviour).

"Given this, no one should go to welcome him with scarves or banners of the Curva or of the groups that compose it."

Lukaku has some way to go before winning the favour of either set of fans, then.
