New Ajax manager lands Man Utd transfer blow over Jurrien Timber

Manchester United have received another hefty blow in the transfer market, with Ajax increasingly bullish over their prospects of keeping Jurrien Timber at the club.
Timber is one of the Ajax players who has most closely been associated with following former boss Erik ten Hag to the Red Devils.
While winger Antony appears to be keen on completing a deal, the full-back is more hesitant. He has been put off a transfer by Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal suggesting that he may lose his place in the World Cup squad for Qatar 2022.

Now Ajax boss Alfred Schreuder has echoed those comments from the former Man Utd manager and has suggested that the best thing for Timber to do would be to spend another season developing with the Eredivisie giants.
“I have spoken with Jurrien and I am assuming he is staying at Ajax,” Schreuder told ESPN. “Timber is a smart guy and he knows what is best for himself. We think he is not done at Ajax yet.”
Man Utd’s transfer market misses
Manchester United are beginning to compile a lengthy list of players who have escaped them this summer, while their Premier League rivals are all making significant headway in the transfer market.
Ten Hag’s side, meanwhile, have missed out or been stalled on a number of key transfers. Darwin Nunez joined Liverpool, Tyrell Malacia is set to pick Lyon over a move to Old Trafford, Kalvin Phillips is heading to Manchester City and Frenkie de Jong has his doubts over a move to the club, even if they can get a transfer bid accepted by Barcelona.
Should this pattern continue for much longer, it will leave Ten Hag in a difficult position come the start of the Premier League season, which already looks testing for Man Utd, who will play all of the Big 6 before the end of October.
