Paul Pogba: Man Utd's massive contract offer branded 'nothing' by France star
Paul Pogba has revealed the terms of a new contract he was offered by Manchester United – one that he would subsequently brand as being worth “nothing”.
Pogba has been with Man Utd since making a world record move from Juventus is 2016 but is set to head back to Turin this summer as his six-year deal at Old Trafford expires. United have already confirmed that the World Cup winner is leaving the club, all that is to be confirmed is his destination.
It is expected that this will be revealed in Friday’s ‘Pogmentary’, which will be shown on Amazon.
Some clips of this documentary have been made available, and The Athletic reports that one sequence in the film shows how out of touch Pogba is with regards his situation.
The midfielder is shown in the film to have twice been made offers in excess of £300,000 per week but turned them down. Perhaps most remarkably, he is seen telling the late Mino Raiola that the offers are worth “nothing” while sitting in his Rolls-Royce.
“How can you tell a player you absolutely want him and offer him nothing?” the clearly offended Pogba says. “I’ve never seen that.”
Furthermore, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is revealed to have promised that he would “build the team” around Pogba.
Pogba’s attitude towards the deal is remarkable because his performances with Manchester United rarely came close to justifying the fee that the club paid for him, and those moments of inspiration he showed were typically only in flashes. He struggled to justify being one of the best paid players at his club – let alone in world football.
Furthermore, his comments are likely to affront supporters at a time when the cost of living for ordinary people in the UK is spiralling.
Pogba is expected to announce his move to Juventus in ‘The Pogmentary’, which will show in detail his miserable relationship with Man Utd.
