In this piece we will run down a small selection of the biggest stars leaving their clubs today.

Manchester United have a whole host of expiring players departing. The biggest of all, of course is Paul Pogba after six underwhelming years back at Old Trafford. He is set to return to Juventus but the deal isn’t official yet.

Other big-names leaving Man Utd today include Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic – the latter having already signed for Roma.

Chelsea are losing two big names today as both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are off. Rudiger (below) has already officially signed for Real Madrid, while Christensen will move to Barcelona.

Elsewhere among the big Premier League clubs, Alexandre Lacazette returns to Lyon, Divock Origi is set to sign for Liverpool, while Fernandinho has returned to Brazil for Athletico Paraenense.

Other notable names in England set to become free agents today are Christian Eriksen (although he could yet stay on at Brentford), Wolves’ Joao Moutinho and West Ham’s Andriy Yarmolenko.

In Spain, there are also some massive names saying their goodbyes today.

At Barcelona, Ousmane Dembele and Dani Alves see their contracts expire – although the Frenchman may yet extend. At Real Madrid, Gareth Bale moves to Los Angeles FC, while Marcelo and Isco become free agents.

Atletico Madrid bid farewell to Luis Suarez, Felipe and Sime Vrsaljko, while Hector Herrera has already signed for Houston Dynamo.

In Italy, the biggest name to become a free agent is Paulo Dybala, who leaves Juventus today after seven years there. He is in talks with Inter. Champions Milan say goodbye to Franck Kessie (who will join Barcelona) and Alessio Romagnoli. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract also expires, although he is expected to sign a new short-term deal.

Lorenzo Insigne and Ivan Perisic have their last days as contracted players of Napoli and Inter, respectively, before moving to Toronto and Spurs.

In Ligue 1, Kylian Mbappe was expected to leave PSG today but eventually signed a new contract. Angel di Maria will depart Paris, probably to join Juventus. Elsewhere, Boubacar Kamara swaps Marseille for Aston Villa, while Cesc Fabregas is now available for free.

In the Bundesliga, Matthias Ginter will join Freiburg tomorrow and Niklas Sule leaves Bayern Munich for Dortmund. Corentin Tolisso also leaves for Lyon.

Ajax have a couple of big names leaving today; Noussir Mazraoui has signed for Bayern Munich and Andre Onana will move to Inter.
