Newcastle are pursuing a deal for Red Bull Salzburg’s upcoming Croatian star Luka Sucic, with a move for the player in the summer looking possible.
The club have been in the market for a midfielder who can improve under Eddie Howe, and they’ve identified the 19-year-old as a strong option for the summer.
Sucic is one of the brightest talents coming out of Red Bull Salzburg, a club credited with honing some of the brightest talents in the game now, including Erling Haaland and Sadio Mane.
He has had a breakthrough season in the Austrian Bundesliga, but what else do we know about the player?

Sucic has earned plaudits this season for his performances for Red Bull Salzburg, showing maturity beyond his years in a historic season for the club as they reached the Champions League knockout stages.
The Austrian-born Croatian midfielder came through the Red Bull Salzburg academy – a state-of-the-art facility in Salzburg and made his debut for the club in September 2020.
Sucic is a dead-ball specialist, and he was able to show his quality this season, netting 11 goals across all competitions as Salzburg won another league and cup double.
The 19-year-old has represented Croatia across various age groups, and even made his debut for the senior national side in October 2021, playing alongside his hero, Luka Modric.
Sucic is left-footed and is most dangerous in the final third of the pitch, hence his impressive goalscoring return as well as his five assists in the 2021-22 season.

What clubs are interested in Luka Sucic?
Like many Salzburg players past and present, there is always interest in their talent, and it’s no different in Sucic’s case, as he is chased by some of Europe’s best.
Liverpool showed interest in the player earlier in the season, but that has cooled off recently, opening an opportunity for others.
Football Transfers reported exclusively that Newcastle were now in the race for the midfielder, and a fee of around €20 million may have to be forked out to secure the player’s signature.
