The Reds ended last season winning both domestic cups in the EFL and FA Cup but finished runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League.

They’ll be hoping to change that in the upcoming season and have signed Nunez from Benfica in a £64 million deal, which could potentially rise to £85 million.

Nunez had a fine campaign in Portugal where he scored 34 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions and ends his Benfica spell with a record of 48 goals in 85 appearances across two seasons.

When will Darwin Nunez make his debut for Liverpool?

All eyes will now be on when Nunez makes his debut for the Reds and begin his time at Jurgen Klopp’s side next season.

Liverpool have a long pre-season tour, travelling to Thailand, and Nunez could make his debut against one of his new club’s oldest rivals, as they face Manchester United on 12 July in Bangkok.

They then go to Singapore to face another Premier League rival in Crystal Palace on 15 July, in what is being dubbed as the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy.

Other pre-season fixtures haven’t yet been confirmed, but Nunez competitive Liverpool debut could come against Manchester City in the Community Shield, who they face on 30 July at Leicester’s King Power Stadium.

There won’t be a long break as just a week after, the Reds kick off their Premier League campaign by travelling to newly-promoted Fulham on 6 August.

Nunez’s home league debut could come on 13 August when they face Crystal Palace at Anfield, and he is expected to get a huge welcome.

A month later, in the week of 6 September, the new Champions League season kicks off and Nunez will be hoping to continue his impressive run in the competition in a new shirt as well.
