Gabriel Jesus continued his dream start with Arsenal following his transfer from Manchester City as he netted his third goal in two games with the club in a friendly against Everton.

Jesus was brought to Arsenal with the intention of solving the problem of their lack of cutting edge in attack, and he has shown promising signs that he will be able to do that thus far.

After scoring twice in a friendly match against Nurnberg, he continued his perfect start to life with the Emirates club by doubling his tally against Everton in a fixture that took place in Baltimore, Maryland and was played in the early hours of Sunday morning UK time.

Jesus showed the kind of goal scoring instincts that manager Mikel Arteta craves by getting on the end of a corner at the back post and lifting the ball high into the net, despite a posse of defenders trying to shut him out. It was an excellent, composed finish in the circumstances and sent Arsenal on the way to a 2-0 victory, with Bukayo Saka netting a matter of minutes later to seal the win.

Gabriel Jesus a quick hit

That the forward was on the scoresheet was all the more encouraging given that he played only 45 minutes before being replaced by Eddie Nketiah.

Indeed, the link up between the from three, Jesus, Saka and Gabriel Martinelli was promising given that this is expected to be Arsenal’s strongest attacking line this season. It was the former Manchester City man, after all, who set up Saka for the second goal.

The win means that Arsenal have now won each of their first two pre-season matches, beating Nurnberg and Everton. Gabriel Jesus, meanwhile, will seek to build upon this excellent start to his career with the club when the Gunners tackle Orlando City in a match that kicks off at 12:30am BST on Thursday.
