Why Sevilla want to sell Kounde to Chelsea instead of Barcelona
Sevilla would prefer to sell Jules Kounde to Chelsea instead of Barcelona due to the presence of a hefty sell-on clause in the Frenchman’s contract.
According to Ben Jacobs, Bordeaux possess a 20 per cent sell-on clause in Kounde’s Sevilla contract, which means they will receive a fifth of any transfer fee the Liga side take.
Kounde signed for Sevilla from Bordeaux in 2019 for €25 million plus a 20% sell-on share for the Ligue 1 team.
One key point being overlooked in this whole Jules Kounde saga is Bordeaux. They take 20% from the sale. That's why Monchi still prefers #CFC's bid. Chelsea have further talks today on formalities around their offer. Barcelona yet to table anything official as of Sunday morning.

Chelsea and Barcelona have been battling out for the signature of Kounde for over a fortnight now.
How much is Chelsea's deal for Kounde?
The Premier League side believed they were on the verge of completing the deal earlier this week having had a bid totalling around €65m (£55m) accepted by Sevilla.
Chelsea are also understood to have agreed personal terms with Kounde, but the transfer has not been completed yet.
The reason for that is because, according to multiple sources in Spain, Kounde would prefer to join Barcelona.
Barca have not made an official bid yet but Fabrizio Romano reports that they are preparing one imminently.
That offer, though, will fall short of the size of Chelsea’s offer.
Thus, Sevilla would rather sell to Chelsea because they already stand to make only 80 per cent of the final fee.
Koundé. Barça preparing opening bid - won’t match £55m, as structure will be different. No Depay and/or Dest included. Chelsea’s £55m bid, still valid in Sevilla’s hands.🚨🇫🇷 #FCB

This is the second time this summer that Barcelona could hijack a player that Chelsea appeared set to sign.
Raphinha was set to sign for Chelsea earlier this month until Barcelona completed a deal for the Brazilian at the last minute.
