Official: Man Utd sign Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord
Manchester United have completed the signing of Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia for a fee of €15 million plus €2m in add-ons.
The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Old Trafford - with the option of a further year - and becomes Man Utd’s first signing of the summer.
Malacia had been on the verge of joining Lyon last week, only for Man Utd to hijack the transfer at the last minute upon the request of new manager Erik ten Hag.

Malacia said: “It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United. This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new team-mates and a tremendous manager [Erik ten Hag] leading us.
“I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie, the qualities that he has and what he demands of his players.
“Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. I’ll always be thankful to Feyenoord for all they have given to me and my family.
“None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for them. Now I’m ready to focus on the future with United, and help my new club achieve success.”
The left back was one of the stars of Feyenoord’s 2021-22 campaign, and played an important role as the club went all the way to the final of the UEFA Conference League – only to lose 1-0 to Roma.
Malacia had a goal and five assists in all competitions for Feyenoord last season.
He joined Feyenoord aged nine and blossomed into a fan favourite at the De Kuip, earning the nickname of "the pitbull" due to his tenacious displays.
He has been capped five times by the Netherlands, making his debut last September against Montenegro.
He is expected to go to the World Cup with the Netherlands, while his versatility is also an asset as he can play further up the left-hand side of the pitch.
Malacia’s arrival raises questions on the future of England international Luke Shaw, who endured a miserable 2021-22 campaign.
This is expected to be just the first of a number of Dutch and Eredivisie-based signings this summer for Man Utd.
Man Utd had also been in advanced negotiations to buy Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, although the deal has stalled in recent days amid reports that the midfielder is refusing to move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are also in negotiations to sign Ajax centre back Lisandro Martinez, while Ten Hag would also like to reunite with Brazilian winger Antony.
