Revealed: Chelsea’s final offer for Anthony Gordon
Chelsea have informed Everton of their final offer for Anthony Gordon as they look to secure the winger's signature before deadline day.
Gordon has scored in Everton's last two games, prompting manager Frank Lampard to insist that the deadline to sell the player had passed.
Chelsea had two bids rejected for Gordon earlier in the summer but despite the 21-year-old's bright start to the season, the Blues have told Everton they have no intention of making a new offer higher than £40 million.
It means a deal for Gordon is unlikely this window and Chelsea are likely to pursue other targets, with Rafael Leao the latest target being pursued by Thomas Tuchel's side.
Lampard had stated his confidence in keeping Gordon after Everton's draw to Leeds, claiming that the Toffees were planning to build around their talisman.
"Anthony is too important of a player," Lampard said. "He showed his worth in the last two games, so what good would it do us to do anything with Anthony?
What are Chelsea's plans heading into deadline day?
The Blues are still hoping for more incomings despite splashing £69m on Leicester's Wesley Fofana, taking their total summer spending to more than £250m.
Negotiations are still ongoing for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona but Leao is being lined up as an alternative and a move for Dinamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan is also being worked on.
However, despite Zakharyan having a £12.6m release clause, the sanctions on Russia means that a deal is complicated due to payment issues.

The club are also reportedly in advanced talks for RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol, with a £77m deal being conducted for the player to join next summer.
Frenkie de Jong could still also be a big money arrival before deadline day should he resolve his salary dispute with Barcelona.
A number of players are expected to leave, with Marcos Alonso set to join Barcelona and question marks still over the futures of Hakim Ziyech, Conor Gallagher and Christian Pulisic.
