Chelsea are set to step up their interest in Everton’s Anthony Gordon, as the club are keen to bring in Thomas Tuchel’s primary target, according to The Athletic.

The Blues are ready to pay big for Gordon offering £50 million plus £10 million in potential add-ons for the 21-year-old winger, and the player is keen on a move too.

Chelsea have had a poor start to the season, winning one, drawing one and losing one of their opening three matches of the season.

Tuchel and Chelsea are keen to add to their attacking options, having lost Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner over the summer, with Hakim Ziyech possibly going away soon too.

Chelsea hope to complete deal before deadline day

Gordon is not expected to have any problems agreeing personal terms with the Stamford Bridge side, and has already expressed his desire to leave to Everton manager Frank Lampard.

The club feel they can demand a high fee as he’s still got three years left on his current deal – due to expire in 2025 – and have rejected bids from other clubs as they didn’t meet their valuation of the player.

Previously in the window, Tottenham and Newcastle United showed interest in signing Gordon, but Everton have resisted interest for the right offer.

This proposal from Chelsea seems hard to ignore, and having already sold Richarlison for a big fee in this window, Everton need to reinvest in several areas of the squad to bolster for the rest of the season.

The Toffees are also unconcerned about his behaviour, should a move not materialize, and are confident he’ll still give his best if he’s still an Everton player after deadline day.

Gordon is keen to boost his chances of playing at the World Cup this winter and feels he’ll have that opportunity if he earns his move to Chelsea.

He is yet to make an appearance for England but has represented their various youth teams on several occasions in the past, starting with the under-18s all the way to the under-21s.
