Chelsea are preparing an offer for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha before the transfer window closes, according to multiple reports.

Zaha is into the final year of his contract and his entourage are thought to have encouraged the interest from the Blues.

Chelsea have been linked with a whole host of moves in recent weeks, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Everton's Anthony Gordon also thought to be targets for Thomas Tuchel's men.

But Zaha seems to have moved to the top of the list and, given his contractual situation, Chelsea appear confident that they can get the deal done.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move to a top club virtually every summer since he left Manchester United, but has stayed in London and made himself a Palace legend.

Indeed, this season, Zaha has been key to the Eagles' impressive start, scoring twice in last weekend's victory over Aston Villa, as well as scoring at Anfield.

But he may feel this is his last opportunity to move to a team in European competition, and push through a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea should retain their trusted 5-2-3 formation, used frequently by Tuchel since he took over the side back in January 2021.

Edouard Mendy will continue in goal; he has no real competition from Kepa Arrizabalaga or Marcus Bettinelli.

The back line will see the biggest changes as Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana come in, replacing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Thiago Silva will retain his place in the middle of the back three, still impressing at 37 years of age.

The left wing-back could be Marc Cucurella, who joined in a £62 million deal from Brighton. Ben Chilwell would be unlucky to miss out.

On the right, Reece James, who was developed into the best right-back in the world, will keep his place.

In midfield, the duo of Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante could be preferred, when fit, with Jorginho, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek ready to step up when called upon.

Up front, new signing Sterling will take his place on the left, hoping to provide the same attacking threat he displayed consistently at Manchester City.

He’ll be supported by Mason Mount on the right side with Zaha up top, in a fluid front three as Tuchel wishes.
