Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United transfer saga continues to overshadow the build up to the Premier League season for Erik ten Hag’s new club.

Although the Red Devils have struggled to be effective in the transfer market this season, they have looked good on the field, yet events away from the pitch are overshadowing the promise that has been display.

Ronaldo, in particular, has successfully grabbed the spotlight, despite being present for little over a week, and CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs writes for FootbalLTransfers that there are two ways that the current impasse is going to be solved. Thankfully for the Red Devils, one of those could be just around the corner.

Ronaldo has upset the dressing room

Ronaldo and the problem he faces is that the rest of the Manchester United dressing room are ahead of him in pre-season and unhappy either because they want a star or because they want him out of the football club, that he’s not up to speed and not at the moment invested in this football club.

Really, the season can’t start soon enough for Manchester United, either because they’ll find a way of getting him out of the club, which is what the player wants, or he’ll be back in a competitive shirt. It’s going to be a lot harder for Ronaldo not to invest and win everybody over once it’s a competitive game and a full Old Trafford. And that’s really what it needs.

It either needs Ronaldo to step on that football field competitively and bang in a game winner or a hat-trick and have everyone around him on the same page saying: ‘Right, Manchester United look good, they’re winning again.’

Or it needs him to go to another club and let the rest of the players get on with it.

Ronaldo has had difficulty in finding transfer suitors, yet Corinthians have now thrown their hat into the ring with an unlikely bid.
