Erik ten Hag’s side had a tough start to the campaign, but have now won in consecutive matches against Liverpool and Southampton, moving up in the table early on.

In addition to that, they’re also hoping to complete some important transfer business before the end of the window, with several places to improve in including attack, midfield and in goal.

Ten Hag was pleased with his side’s win against the Saints, but stated the need for improvements, possibly indicating the need for more transfers before the transfer deadline.

Ten Hag wishes to improve squad

He praised his team’s effort but wanted more control from his side and wishes to see them get better when they have the ball.

"The finish from Bruno Fernandes was magnificent but the part before, it was a team goal,” he said when speaking to the media after the match.

“We built it up from the back and there were some more moments straight after half-time where it was well played from the team. We have to improve in possession," possibly indicating the need for midfield additions.

The Red Devils have been linked to the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over the summer, with a view to bringing one of them to the club.

No deal has materialized, however and they end into the final days of the window with the ambition of getting a few new players.

Ten Hag also discussed the transfer deadline and what he thinks his club can do: "The transfer window... you don't know what to expect. We will see.”

“As Manchester United you always have to try do better so we can see if we can strengthen the squad, if not we will do with what we have got."

Ten Hag also said that they “were OK” with their forward options, and that he’s comfortable with the possibilities he has in Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Like their midfield, they are in talks to sign Antony from Ajax and Cody Gakpo from PSV, but it remains to be seen how they go about their business.
