The best FPL forwards for 2022-23
With the high-profile transfers of Erling Haaland to Manchester City, Darwin Nunez to Liverpool, and Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal, there are plenty of great forwards to pick in the 2022-23 iteration of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).
Haaland has immediately joined the game at the highest price point for an FPL forward, joining Harry Kane at £11.5 million. The pair are the two most expensive forwards in the game, although they aren’t as pricey as the likes of Mohamed Salah and Heung-Min Son, who have been classed as midfielders.
Kane scored the most points of any forward in FPL in 2021-22, which has seen him maintain his status as one of the most expensive players in the game. He contributed the most assists (11) of any forward in FPL last season, the second-most goals scored (17), and the third-most bonus points (23).
As for Haaland, he scored 22 Bundesliga goals in 21 starts for Borussia Dortmund last season and is expected to become Man City’s starting striker.
While Haaland costs £11.5m, fellow new signing Darwin Nunez is slightly cheaper at £9m. The Uruguayan has joined from Liverpool after netting 26 goals in 24 league starts for Benfica in 2021-22. He scored on his competitive Liverpool debut in the Community Shield victory over Man City.
Gabriel Jesus, who left Man City to join Arsenal, is also an excellent FPL asset. The Brazilian is available for £8m, and scored seven goals in the Gunners’ five pre-season friendlies ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Manchester United’s Anthony Martial could be a brilliant differential pick. Unfancied by the club and sent on loan to Sevilla in 2021-22, the Frenchman could become Man Utd’s leading man this season under Erik ten Hag, and hence could pick up some impressive points.
