Guedes, 25, has joined for an initial fee of £27.5 million (€32m), which could rise up to £35m (€41m) with add-ons. On the other hand, Coady, 29, has left Bruno Lage's side to join Frank Lampard's Everton on a one-year loan deal.

Despite being club captain, Coady was left on the bench in Wolves' opening day defeat to Leeds United, with Lage moving to a back four and deploying new signing Nathan Collins and Maximilian Kilman at the heart of the backline.

The former Liverpool man has joined an Everton side who lost 1-0 to Chelsea in their first fixture of the season, with both Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina suffering injuries in the game.

Lampard used a 3-4-3 system during the loss to Chelsea, with Coady suited to the middle centre-back role he played frequently at Wolves, under both Lage and his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo. Coady has taken the number 30 shirt at Goodison Park, and will have an eye on making England's World Cup squad later this year.

Guedes has joined Wolves after spending four years as a Valencia player after arriving at the Mestalla from Paris Saint-Germain. He had previously spent the season prior on loan at the club. In total, Guedes 36 goals and assisted a further 30 in 178 appearances for the Spanish giants.

The Portuguese international, who has 31 caps and seven goals for his country, scored 11 La Liga goals in the 2021-22 campaign, which helped Valencia to a ninth placed finish in the Spanish top flight.

Valencia have released a statement saying: "The club thank him for his professionalism as a Valencia CF player and wish him the best of luck in this new stage of his career."

Change at Wolves

Guedes has joined an attacking unit that already consists of Morgan Gibbs-White, Pedro Neto, Adama Traore, Daniel Podence, and Hwang Hee-Chan, while Raul Jimenez is still at the club but it currently sidelined with an injury.

Young forward Fabio Silva has been sent on loan to Anderlecht for the season, while the aforementioned Gibbs-White has been the subject of multiple bids this summer, most notably Nottingham Forest.

Coady joined Wolves back in 2015, and played in all but one of Wolves' opening four seasons back in the Premier League after achieving promotion from the Championship in 2018.
