Manchester Unietd are reportedly yet to enter personal term negotiations with Adrien Rabiot and his fierce agent, his mother Veronique.

Veronique is known for her hard-ball tactics, which has seen proposed moves to Roma, Barcelona and Tottenham fall through in the past.

Man Utd have reportedly agreed a deal with Juventus for the services of France midfielder Rabiot, with the player also keen on leaving the Turin side to join the Red Devils.

It's believed that he wishes to play Champions League football, but is willing to forfeit that desire in order to join a club with Man Utd's stature.

The move has been agreed with Juventus and with the player keen it seems as though the transfer will go through, but Man Utd will crucially have to deal with Veronique first.

Veronique's demand

According to the Telegraph, Man Utd are yet to open discussions with Rabiot's mother, meaning an agreement on personal terms is a way off yet. Furthermore, Veronique has reportedly stated that she is only interested in talking directly to John Murtough, Man Utd's director of football, rather than any intermediaries.

As a result, negotiations haven't yet begun, with Veronique setting her demands that she will only talk to Murtough to discuss her son's contract at Old Trafford.

With talks over a move for Frenkie de Jong stagnating, Man Utd have turned their attentions to Rabiot, who is seemingly deemed an appropriate replacement for the departed Paul Pogba.

However, while it seems a deal has been agreed with Juve, Man Utd are still a way off announcing a deal for Rabiot, as his mother has been famously tough in negotiations and it may take a while to arrange a deal.

Despite summer acquisitions, Erik ten Hag started the much-maligned double pivot of Scott McTominay and Fred in the opening day defeat to Brighton and a move for Rabiot has happened quickly, with the Red Devils keen to improve their midfield.

Real Betis' Guido Rodriguez and Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic have also been linked with a move as Man Utd turned their attention away from Barcelona's De Jong, who ahs reiterated his desire to stay at Camp Nou.
