Manchester United are ready to shell out up to €100 million (£85m) to sign Antony from Ajax in one of the biggest transfers in the history of the club.

Indeed, once the deal is completed, only Paul Pogba will have moved to Old Trafford for a bigger fee.

It will also mark the conclusion of a long-running saga that has seen Man Utd spend months chasing the Brazil international attacker, who is a favourite of Ten Hag.

But how will this mammoth fee be split up? How much of it is tied to bonus payments, and how much of the money will Ajax receive?

Antony transfer fee

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax to pay €100 million for Antony, but not all of that is tied to an upfront cost. However, the Amsterdam club have doubtless worked hard to get maximum value for their player and it is widely reported that Man Utd are set to pay €95m (£81m) for the Brazil winger, regardless of his performance.

This means that just €5m of the Antony fee will be tied to bonus payments.

How does this compare to the other potential €100m men of the summer, Darwin Nunez of Liverpool and Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid?

Man Utd’s terms are not favourable in comparison. Nunez’s deal is reported to have around €25m in performance-related bonuses while that figure drops to around €20m for Tchouameni. The Red Devils are investing far more in Antony in an initial fee.

How much money will Ajax see?

Ajax will certainly not see the whole of the fee, with Sao Paulo set to benefit enormously from the deal. Indeed, the Brazilian club will receive 20% of the initial deal because of the agreement when Antony made his move to Europe and a further 2.7% because of the solidarity mechanism.

This means Sao Paulo’s take from the move is €21.57m. Ajax will be left with €73.43m from the deal.
