Manchester United have focused heavily on the Eredivisie this summer, having appointed Erik ten Hag as head coach and chasing his desired targets.

They’ve already signed Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, with ex-Ajax star Christian Eriksen joining the Red Devils as well.

This may become a trend in the coming years, with Ten Hag eager to bring in the technical quality that the Dutch top-flight produces on a consistent basis.

Here are five Eredivisie players Manchester United should keep an eye on in the upcoming season.

Antony

Manchester United have already been linked with a move for Antony this summer, but will seemingly be priced out of it as Ajax wish to keep their star talent.

Antony has been impressive for Ajax since joining, and based on his trajectory, he’s supposed to have his best-ever season with the Dutch champions.

It seems like Ten Hag’s interest in his former winger won’t be dying down anytime soon, and he’ll be back in the market for the Brazilian next year.

Cody Gakpo

Gakpo is one of the Eredivisie’s most recognizable stars having been linked with clubs across Europe, and Manchester United could be another interested in him after years of good development.

The 23-year-old can play on either wing or up top – something useful to the Red Devils – and his quality has shone through in his link up play, proving to be a vital asset for his side, and he’s also a full Dutch international.

Gakpo’s Eredivisie record is also decent: 27 goals and 27 assists in his 92 appearances with PSV, and 2022-23 could well be the year where everyone is talking about him, with a World Cup appearance a possibility.

Jurrien Timber

The transfer window kicked off with plenty of Manchester United interest in Timber, but a move was ruled out as the player preferred a stay.

Timber wished to continue at Ajax and maintain his place in the Dutch national team as the World Cup looms, and it may be a smart, long-term call.

Ten Hag is still a big fan of the player, having seen his development over the last year, and will certainly be keeping an eye on his progress in the coming season.

Antoni Milambo

Milambo is already a history-maker, having become the youngest player to represent Feyenoord and the youngest Dutchman to ever play in Europe back in 2021, when he was just 16.

He’s played for Feyenoord’s youth teams as well as Conference League matches last season, and can play either in attacking midfield or the wing.

The player, born in 2005, is dubbed to be a future star, and should be on Manchester United’s radar for the upcoming season and years to follow.

Noni Madueke

This is a bit of a tough one, because Madueke clearly has the talent and has shown it for PSV, but he’s often been so affected by injury.

The English winger moved to the Netherlands from Tottenham in 2018 and has done well in the Eredivisie in that time, but has an awful luck with injuries.

He’s still only 20, and there’s time to improve, but he’s set to be out of action until after the World Cup, having suffered an ankle injury recently.
