Manchester United are trying to hijack Chelsea's deal for Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. How would the Red Devils line up with the former Arsenal man in their ranks?

Erik ten Hag appears to have settled on a 4-3-3 system after a difficult start to his Man Utd career, and has now picked up back-to-back wins against Liverpool and Southampton.

The goals have been spread around in the last two games, with Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and latterly Bruno Fernandes on target, and this is where Aubameyang would come in.

Whilst Ten Hag will be pleased to see goals being scored from all angles, United are effectively without a focal point with Cristiano Ronaldo - scorer of a team-high 18 last season - looking for a way out of the club.

Rashford has led the line for the last two games with Ronaldo benched, but he prefers starting on the left flank, and Aubameyang's arrival would allow him to do so. Auba was once a winger, but he top-scored for Barca last season with 13 goals in all competitions despite only arriving in February.

Real Madrid influence

While one former Real Madrid player is set to leave Old Trafford, another has arrived in Casemiro, and he should anchor the midfield ahead of Scott McTominay going forward, with Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen given license to get forward.

Behind them, Aubemayng might walk into a dressing room that has Harry Maguire as captain, but the England centre-back - like Ronaldo - has been benched for the last two games, with yet another former Real man, Raphael Varane, preferred alongside Lisandro Martinez at the heart of defence.

While Aubameyang still has the pace to start wider in an emergency, he is now a fully developed penalty box striker who already knows a thing or two about scoring in the Premier League having done so 69 times across five seasons with Arsenal.

Chelsea might yet win the race for Aubameyang, but he would be a wonderful fit at United too.
