Arsenal missed out on Dusan Vlahovic last January as he elected to leave Fiorentina for Juventus, but the Serbia international striker is now being linked to the Gunners once again.

According to Calciomercatoweb, manager Mikel Arteta sees Vlahovic as a backup option to Gabriel Jesus.

Furthermore, the Gunners are also seeking to sign Fabio Miretti from Juve in a double deal worth €110 million.

Although Juventus are struggling in eighth in Serie A presently and look destined to crash out of the Champions League after defeats to both Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica, this mouth-watering prospect looks are far-fetched one for the Premier League leaders.

Calciomercato suggests that Vlahovic has been irritated at Juventus by being left isolated at the forefront of their attack. This is despite scoring an impressive four goals in the first six Serie A matches this season to go with the seven in 15 he bagged last term.

But Juventus will surely not allow the 22-year-old striker to depart just a year after they worked so hard to sign him from rivals Fiorentina, beating off a host of competitors in order to land the most expensive January transfer signing ever at a fee of around €82 million.

While Juve can call upon a fine replacement in Arkadiusz Milik, the Poland striker is not of the same pedigree as Vlahovic.

Equally, Arsenal are unlikely to spend the type of money required to sign Vlahovic given that they already have a star performer in that role in the form of Gabriel Jesus and there are other issues in their squad that need address.

Miretti a likelier target

One of these, though, could be filled by Miretti, who appears a likelier transfer target for January. He has been a breakout star in Serie A over the course of 2022. Primarily a defensive midfield player, he made his debut for the club against Malmo in December 2021 and has featured a total of 16 times for Juve’s first team.

Arsenal may well be keeping tabs on both Vlahovic and Miretti, but come January, the latter is the likelier transfer.
