Why Gakpo to Man Utd in January is still on
Cody Gakpo has been in impressive form this season for PSV, despite rumours linking him with a move away from the club at the start of the season and through the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman was linked with a move to Manchester United and a host of other Premier League clubs including Southampton, Leeds United and Newcastle United, but ended up staying in the Eredivisie.
He has continued to do well for both club and country, recently showing his best abilities in the Netherlands’ Nations League matches against Poland and Belgium.
Now, it seems as though Manchester United’s interest in him isn’t entirely done, and that they’ll be monitoring his situation closely in the coming months and assess whether it’s worth making a move.
Man Utd could move Gakpo
According to Forbes, the Red Devils could consider making a move for Gakpo as early as the January transfer window, as they look to add to their attacking options midway through the season.
Manchester United are quite limited on attacking options, despite many of their players including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho picking up form in recent weeks.
Anthony Martial’s fitness is often uncertain this season, while Cristiano Ronaldo was adamant on leaving, with the player’s contract due to run out at the end of the season.

Gakpo would be a versatile option, with the player having played across the front three, and for the Netherlands, he often tends to play just behind the centre forward.
He is also arguably the Eredivisie’s best player, and the interest in him will be very high in the coming months, especially if the winger has a great World Cup, for which he is almost certain to go to this winter.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was also known to be an admirer of Gakpo’s talents, which is why he was eager to bring him to Old Trafford before a transfer for Antony from Ajax was possible.
