The five teams monitoring Man Utd's Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot has impressed for Manchester United this season, becoming an important part of Erik ten Hag’s back-line and his form is being widely recognised.
The Portuguese right-back has become the undisputed number one for Ten Hag, overtaking Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but Manchester United face a fight to keep him at the club.
The Portuguese full-back’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is free to agree a deal for a free transfer elsewhere from January onwards.
Manchester United are now working to extend his stay, and will activate the option to increase his stay by at least a further year before the January transfer window.
Interest from abroad in Dalot
There is plenty of interest in Dalot from clubs abroad, according to the Manchester Evening News, and they are all keen to add a good, attack-minded right-back to their ranks in upcoming transfer windows.
Two Spanish sides are interested in Dalot: Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, both of whom also maintained an interest in the player in the summer.
Barcelona signed Hector Bellerin in the transfer window, but want to add a long-term option who has a less concerning injury record to bolster their ranks.
Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, have been keen on bringing in a right-back as well, having let go of Santiago Arias in the summer and facing injury issues in that department with their current squad.

Other than that, there is interest from three Italian sides: Juventus, Milan and Roma, and the trio are assessing their options before making a move.
Milan was where Dalot played on loan in the 2020/21 season before returning to Manchester United, while Jose Mourinho, the man who brought the Portuguese to England, is at Roma.
Juventus are undergoing a rebuild of their squad in the hope of getting a younger team, and Dalot would be a worthwhile addition to that group.
