Man Utd's Eriksen shuts down comparisons to Mata
Christian Eriksen has spoken about his start at Manchester United and comparisons that have been made between him and former players at the club.
Eriksen only joined the club in the summer on a free transfer after his contract at Brentford had expired at the end of last season, becoming Erik ten Hag’s second summer signing after Tyrell Malacia.
He has enjoyed a great start to life at Old Trafford, playing in every game and widely being appreciated for his performances for the control he brings into the Manchester United midfield.
There have been some comparisons between him and Juan Mata due to the age at which Eriksen sign, amid fears that he wouldn’t have a great impact on the team.
Eriksen speaks out on Mata comparisons
Eriksen has spoken out about those comparisons, saying he takes it as a positive: "It’s football in a nutshell and shows how fast it is. Of course, it is great to be compared to them, but you create your own ways and own name."
"I was lucky that I managed to play against Paul Scholes. He was a good player, so I’m happy to be compared to him," Eriksen added in his interview with Danish outlet Politiken.

Eriksen was then asked about Manchester United’s struggles in recent years and what it’s like to be a part of a potential rebuild of the team and club as a whole.
"Like everyone else, I’ve previously been one of those sitting and reading about what happened at Manchester United. It is a huge club, and no one in the world does not know about the brand United."
"You can see how much is being written. Stories about one and the other, both for good and evil. When you are part of it, you find out what is true and what is not true. What to trust and what not to trust," the Danish star added.
