The three biggest spenders on transfer this summer have been Chelsea, Barcelona... and Nottingham Forest! How many players have the Premier League new boys acquired?

Two-time European champions, Forest also won the old English first division in 1978 in their under Brian Clough-led heyday. Now back in the top flight after a 23 years away, they clearly plan to stay there.

Forest have spent just shy of €160 million on newer than 19 players this summer, overhauling the team that won promotion via the Championship play-offs.

England under-21 midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been their costliest acquisition, Forest paying Wolverhampton Wanderers £25m/€29m up front for his services, with another potential £17m/€18m in add-ons over the course of his five-year contract.

Two more players have also passed the €20m mark for Forest: Liverpool right-back Neco Williams and his former Reds teammates Taiwo Awoniyi, who joined from Union Berlin in the Bundesliga and is already off the mark with the winner against West Ham in Gameweek 2.

How many left-backs?

Other Bundesliga arrivals include Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate, who have signed from VfB Stuttgart and Mainz respectively, while former Reading left-back Omar Richards was persuaded to return to England from Bayern Munich.

Forests have also been clever in the loan and free transfer market, picking up Manchester United pair Dean Henderson and Jesse Lingard respectively on those bases. Goalkeeper Henderson has already saved a Harry Kane penalty...

He has an understudy in Wayne Hennessey, the Wales goalkeeper joining on a free from Burnley. Former Crystal Palace midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, like Lingard and Hennessey, also arrived for nothing.

Forest have cast their scouting net far and wide. Giulian Binacone has arrived from French side Troyes for €10m, Switzerland midfielder Remo Freuler cost the next most in joining from Atalanta for €9m, while Richards already has competition at left-back with Renan Lodi joining on loan from Atletico Madrid for a €3m fee.

Emmanuel Dennis (Watford, €14.8m), Lewis O'Brien (Huddersfield, €9.4m), Hwang Ui-jo (Bordeaux, €4m), Willy Boly (Wolves, €2.6m), Harry Toffolo - another left-back - (Huddersfield, €2.4m) and Brandon Aguilera (Alajuelense, €950k) round out Forest's summer spending, and there is still time before the window shuts.

Football Transfers certainly hopes Steve Cooper knows what his best XI is, cos we're dizzy!
