Chelsea’s sacking of Thomas Tuchel sees another talented manager now on the market as a free agent.

Tuchel’s contract was terminated just six games into the new season, following the Blues’ 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Despite his disappointing end at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel still maintains a reputation as one of the best coaches in world football and would be a strong candidate at any vacancies across Europe.

With plenty of options surely set to open up in the coming months, FootballTransfers takes a look at some of the potential teams that could offer a route back into football for Tuchel.

RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig sacked manager Domenico Tedesco just hours before Tuchel’s departure was announced and the Bundesliga side could represent a quick return to football for the former Chelsea boss.

Leipzig have assembled a bright, young squad containing the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Josko Gvardiol, who were targets for Chelsea during the window, and Timo Werner, who left Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, the German outfit are believed to be close to finalising a deal to hire ex-Dortmund boss Marco Rose, although Tuchel’s availability would certainly give Leipzig something to think about.

Bayer Leverkusen

Another potential return to Germany for Tuchel could manifest in the way of Bayer Leverkusen, who have had a rough start to the new season.

Gerardo Seoane led Leverkusen to third in the Bundesliga last season but his side have lost four of their opening league games of this campaign so far.

With talented players including Moussa Diaby and Chelsea loanee Callum Hudson-Odoi, should Seoane leave Leverkusen, Tuchel would undoubtedly be considered a strong candidate for the job.

Juventus

A move to Italy would represent new territory for Tuchel but the German boss would certainly be tempted if a vacancy came about at Juventus.

The Serie A side have struggled in recent times under Massimiliano Allegri, finishing fourth last season and sitting seventh currently in the new campaign.

With The Old Lady still desperate to cling onto their status as one of the heavyweights of Italian football, hiring a Champions League winner like Tuchel could be a shrewd decision if Allegri is sacked.

Sevilla

While some may see a move to Sevilla as a step down for Tuchel, the Spanish side are set to relieve Julen Lopetegui of his duties, potentially opening a vacancy at a side currently playing Champions League football.

The La Liga outfit would be something of a project for Tuchel, with Sevilla perhaps a while away from seriously threatening Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the table.

Should Tuchel want a swift return to football in a country he has yet to manage in, Sevilla would certainly welcome him with open arms.

Germany

Germany have enjoyed a resurgence under Hansi Flick after he was hired following their round-of-16 exit in Euro 2020.

The former World champions are unbeaten in Flick’s 13 games in charge and he still has two years remaining on his contract.

However, football is a fickle sport and a poor showing in the upcoming World Cup could see Flick relieved of his duties in a role that Tuchel would likely be a favourite for.
