‘Spent £400m and sacked before Rodgers!’ – Fans react to Tuchel's Chelsea sacking
Thomas Tuchel has been sacked as Chelsea manager, leaving the football in disbelief over the situation.
The Blues have had a rocky start to the season and a 1-0 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday represented their third defeat in 17 days, yet there was apparently no hint of this news coming.
Chelsea have concluded a transfer window in which Tuchel was given a record sum of money to spend, with key signings such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Denis Zakaria and Wesley Fofana arriving on Deadline Day. These players have been at the club less than a week and have seen their manager sacked.

Tuchel asked for these players, and though the club delivered, they have given him no time to work with them, leaving fans stunned at the announcement that came on Wednesday morning.
The overriding emotion was the same: what!?
What?

You get the idea. There are literally hundreds of such tweets directed at Chelsea this morning following one of the most surprising decisions to sack a manager in recent years.
It’s not a call that Chelsea fans have been quick to get behind after Tuchel led the club to Champions League glory in 2021. Indeed, he guided the club to the final of the League Cup and FA Cup within a year of joining the club.
Why would you sack the manager after 2 games the window closed and backing him in the entire transfer window?

This is genuinely one of the most upsetting things I’ve read in a while

Nah. This doesn’t sit right with me.

Ahhhh I didn’t think they would take this serious💀💀

Fans from other teams were just as baffled by the strategy that saw Tuchel given huge backing in the transfer window only for it to last less than a week.
Class. Spent £400m and sacked before Rogers 😂

They just gave him 500m to buy whatever players he wanted 😭

And it was not lost on fans that Chelsea remain as cutthroat in their approach to managerial sackings as ever.

Meanwhile, Graham Potter is now favourite to take over from Tuchel as Chelsea manager.
