The German boss had a heroic status at Chelsea, having spurred the team on to a Champions League win in 2021, and was part of the club when there was an ownership.

The new ownership group, headed by Todd Boehly, invested heavily in the summer, spending the most of any club in Europe as the Blues made nine signings in all.

However, Tuchel was sacked soon after the transfer window, with Graham Potter coming in from Brighton as his replacement to carry the team forward for the rest of the campaign.

Tuchel offered return to management

Now, Tuchel has been offered a return to management, with Bayer Leverkusen considering the chance to bring in a new manager following their own problems at the start of this season.

Leverkusen sit 17th in the Bundesliga table, four points from bottom, and their most recent result was a 4-0 defeat at the hands of reigning champions Bayern Munich.

Their current manager, Gerardo Seoane, is under pressure, with the sack looking a possibility after club CEO Fernando Carro spoke about potentially making the decision this weekend: “We are not unprepared!”

According to Sport1, Bayer Leverkusen have made contact with Tuchel about the possibility of taking over, but it’s believed that the ex-Chelsea boss has rejected their advances.

Tuchel may feel that his ambitions don’t align with that of Leverkusen’s, as the club are struggling and may not have Champions League football next season unless they drastically improve.

In the past, Tuchel has been successful with Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea and will probably want to be at a place where he’s more likely to win trophies.

Leverkusen haven’t won many trophies in recent times, and they may putting Tuchel off, and it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up in the coming months.
