Manchester United and Arsenal have been tipped to make a move for PSV star Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window, following his fine start to the season.

Gakpo is seen as one of the top talents in Dutch football after an impressive few years, and he has hit his best form for PSV both domestically and in Europe so far in this campaign.

The Dutchman has been involved in 24 goals in 18 matches this season – 13 goals and 11 assists – and is attracting interest from Europe’s best clubs.

Now, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, he’s been tipped for a January move and could earn a big transfer soon if he continues this rich vein of form.

Gakpo backed for move

Di Marzio said: “I know him very well. He’s a very, very good player. When you play in the Eredivisie with PSV and Ajax, you obviously learn intensity and quality, so the Premier League is the right move for players like him. I think Manchester United, Arsenal or Tottenham.”

“It depends on what PSV want for him. I think Manchester United or Arsenal, or Tottenham, for that matter, are the right projects for a quality and intense player like him.

“Of course, it’s still too early to say if there is a deal or if the clubs are talking to each other. We are in October, and there is also a World Cup, so all transfers will be postponed. Each club will wait until the World Cup and see what happens.”

Gakpo is expected to be on the plane to Qatar with the Dutch national team for the World Cup this year, and is admired for the impact he can make, even if he comes off the bench.

He has a long contract at PSV, running until 2026, so the Dutch club are in a good negotiating position and can demand a big fee for their star man.
