Liverpool given hope of signing La Liga star after asking price is slashed
Liverpool are keen to improve their midfield options with the Reds severely depleted and struggling in that area, and that has reflected in their performances on the pitch.
Several of their midfielders are either out of form or suffering from injury issues, hampering the Reds’ progression as they sit 14 points off the top of the table early on in the campaign.
They also need to bring in improvements as several of their current options are out of a contract at the end of the season and Liverpool will have to accommodate for their departures soon.
Now, they’ve been handed a boost in the form of a transfer target they have admired for a long time and could make a move for him given the right chance in the near future.
Liverpool given Rodriguez hope
Jude Bellingham is Liverpool’s primary target to improve their midfield, but they will face competition from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid if they are looking to get him to Anfield.
That may only be a summer transfer as Bellingham will only choose a club based on their Champions League status – something Liverpool will be fighting for over the course of the campaign.
In January, however, they may be tempted for a move for Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez, who was also of interest to the likes Manchester United and Everton over the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old can play in a variety of roles in midfield, including as a box-to-box option or at the base of a midfield three, which is useful to Jurgen Klopp as his current options are struggling.

Fabinho hasn’t been in the best form, while Thiago is struggling with fitness while others such as Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are out of contract at the end of the season.
Rodriguez is crucial to Betis, but the club are now willing to sell him for as low as €25 million, according to Via Goal, which is appealing to Liverpool and they may be tempted to make an offer.
The Argentine has done well in this campaign and over the years for Betis, and could well be on the plane to Qatar for the World Cup this winter, boosting his profile.
