Mbappe was set to join Real Madrid in the summer, but made a late U-turn and ended up signing a contract until 2025, according to the French club.

Less than five months after agreeing to a new deal, however, it’s been revealed the Mbappe wants to leave the club and wants a move as early as the January transfer window, enhancing rumours once again.

However, he may not get the Real Madrid move he desires and may have to look at other options with Los Blancos not keen on spending big in January.

Liverpool hopes boosted in Mbappe chase

According to ESPN, Real Madrid will not make a transfer approach for Mbappe in January, which will be a boost to others, such as Liverpool.

Real Madrid want to make it clear that the chance for Mbappe is gone, and they don’t have the best relations with PSG either, which would make this deal even more complicated.

According to Marca from earlier in the week, PSG will not consider selling to Real Madrid as a result of the severed relations between the two clubs, which boosts Liverpool’s case even further.

Liverpool were interested in Mbappe a few years ago, but a move for him would be complicated by the high asking price that will be set on the French star.

In addition to the astronomical transfer fee, there will also be a huge wage package that has to be offered to Mbappe, breaking the Reds’ wage structure.

Real Madrid may look at other options, and it’s rare to see them go back in for a player who has rejected their advances once in the past, as Mbappe had done this past summer.
