Liverpool need to strengthen their midfield and are targeting a host of players from around Europe to bolster the profiles in their squad.

The Reds are severely depleted in that area, having been troubled by injury issues and forced to use older names to help their team, and they will have to invest in midfield to improve in coming windows.

They signed Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus on the final day of the transfer window, but he has struggled for fitness and will need more time to get up to speed in the Liverpool side.

Now, they are looking for solution as early as the January transfer window, and have targeted an Inter star, with competition coming from Manchester United as well.

Brozovic's form caught the eye

Marcelo Brozovic is the player they are looking at but he won’t come easy as he has four years left on his deal and earns a big wage, which may force Liverpool to invest heavily.

The Croatian has been one of Inter’s most important players in recent times, playing a huge role in their title-winning season of 2020-21, which ended an 11-year wait for the Scudetto.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are prepared offer Brozovic a package of £200,000-per-week to tempt him to move to Anfield, having targeted him for several years before that.

They aren’t alone in their pursuit of the player, as Manchester United are also monitoring the situation, while Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the player.

The only concern Liverpool have is Brozovic’s age: he is currently 29 and the Reds haven’t usually signed players of that age range in recent times, with a younger approach preferred by the club.

Other than Brozovic, the club are also looking at others such as Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo as options to improve their midfield.
