Names such as Milan Skriniar have been linked to the club but it’s possible they go for a different route and are targeting an emerging Benfica star.

Antonio Silva is that player, but Manchester United will face stern competition as they will have to beat off interest from Paris Saint-Germain to sign the Portuguese.

Silva of interest to many

Silva has been part of the Benfica squad over the course of this season, even playing in Champions League matches in recent weeks, with impressive performances coming against Paris Saint-Germain.

Benfica are yet to lose a match in which Silva has played for them, a record he’ll be hoping to maintain for a long time as he becomes a more important player for them.

Manchester United are considering a move for next summer but he has a release clause of €100 million, having signed a contract back in September that runs until the summer of 2027.

Silva was part of the Benfica team that won the UEFA Youth League back in April, impressing with his performances and that has translated to the senior team.

Liverpool are another English club interested in signing Silva, but Benfica remain insistent on interested club’s meeting the release clause if they are to sign the youngster.

PSG have wanted to improve their defence for a while having spent all summer in an unsuccessful chase for Skriniar and now Silva has emerged as an option.

There have been calls for the teenager to be included in the Portuguese national team squad heading into the World Cup in Qatar and that would only boost his profile on a wider scale.
