Manchester United have a big decision to make with regards to the future of Diogo Dalot as he enters the final year of his contract, with the Red Devils having the option to extend for a further year.

There is plenty of interest in the right-back, with the player having had an impressive start to the season under new manager Erik ten Hag, who has established Dalot as his first choice in the position.

Dalot’s future was unclear over the last few years, but in recent times, he has shown his qualities and overtaken Aaron Wan-Bissaka as the first-choice under Ralf Rangnick and now Ten Hag.

Now, Manchester United are eager to keep hold of the player for the long run as five clubs from across Europe are interested in securing his signature, with his contract set to run out at the end of the season.

Interest in Dalot high

Two Spanish clubs and three Italian clubs are interested in taking Dalot on upon the expiry of his contract and they are weighing up their options to make a move.

Barcelona are the strongest contenders, with the Blaugrana making it clear they want improvements at right-back soon in order to complete the redevelopment of their squad.

They’ve already got Hector Bellerin and wish to keep him at the Camp Nou for a long time, however, they want more depth in that role to support him and Dalot is seen as the ideal option.

Milan are also candidates, having had the player previously when he was on loan at the San Siro in the 2020-21 season as he looked to get more game time.

Juventus are also in the market for a new right-back or wing-back as Juan Cuadrado is entering the final year of his deal, and his contract won’t be extended beyond the summer of 2023.

Atletico Madrid are also eyeing up the player, with the club not entirely convinced by Nahuel Molina and having seen Dalot do well for Manchester United in recent times.

Finally, Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, who brought Dalot over to Manchester United, are also interested in signing the player.

What Manchester Untied do in the coming months will be worth keeping an eye on – they want to keep hold of Dalot for the long run and will have to offer him a better deal to get rid of the interest in him.
