Manchester United need to add to their attacking line and could be tempted to move for Brentford forward Ivan Toney in the near future.

The Red Devils are short-staffed in attack and have played Marcus Rashford up top, with Anthony Martial eager to leave the club and Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still unclear.

As a result, Manchester United have been looking at other options for their attack and could be tempted to make a move for the forward from their Premier League rivals.

Toney has had a fine start to the season and Manchester United could be tempted to make a move for him in the near future.

Some reports suggest Brentford are eager to keep hold of their star forward and are prepared to hand him a new deal to ward off interest from any potential suitors.

The 26-year-old forward has made nine appearances for Brentford this season, scoring six goals and providing two assists, which includes a hat-trick against Leeds United.

So impressive was his form that he got a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for their Nations League matches in September and he could earn a place on the World Cup team travelling to Qatar this winter.

He has a long contract with the Bees – lasting until 2025 – so Brentford are in a good position to negotiate and any suitors will have to fork out a big sum to land the forward’s signature.

Along with Manchester United, other clubs interested in Toney are Newcastle United, West Ham United and Leeds United, which means any interested sides will have to move fast to get his signature.

For Manchester United, Rashford has been in improved form in this campaign, but there are doubts over the futures of both Martial and Ronaldo.

Other forwards have been linked to the club as well, including Roma’s Tammy Abraham and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, and they will have a big decision to make in the future.
