Tielemans for Van de Beek swap would solve Man Utd and Leicester problems
Donny van de Beek hasn’t had the best time at Manchester United since joining the club in 2020, having rarely played for them, and it seems as though his tenure at Old Trafford is set to come to an end.
Van de Beek was an emerging star at Ajax, having a big role to play but he hasn’t been able to replicate that since his move to England and Manchester United.
He spent the second half of last season away on Everton, but struggled to do much of note there and hasn’t played much in the 2022-23 campaign either.
Now, there may be a way out for him, with Leicester City keen on a move for him, and there could be a deal that benefits all parties.
Move makes sense for all involved
Leicester City see the 25-year-old as a replacement for Youri Tielemans, who’s contract expires at the end of the season and they could lose him on a free in the summer.
So far, the Belgian has shown no sign of wanting to extend his deal at Leicester, and the Foxes will see January as the last chance to recoup some sort of fee for their star midfielder.
Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing Tielemans, as they look to add more depth to their midfield options, and could entertain the idea of a swap deal between Van de Beek and the Belgian.

That way, all four could benefit: Manchester United bring in a proven Premier League-quality midfielder, Leicester get a replacement, and both players get to move on to different opportunities.
It’s believed that Van de Beek is valued at £13 million and that is around the same fee Leicester will value Tielemans at in the January transfer window, making this a financially sensible deal as well.
Making a swap deal happen is quite difficult, which is why it rarely happens, but this is something that could work out given the situation of both clubs and players, and they would be tempted to make it happen.
