Weston McKennie emerges as surprise Man Utd transfer target
Manchester United are eager to bolster their midfield options and are considering a move for Juventus’ Weston McKennie in the near future to help their case.
The Red Devils have needed new midfielders to add more depth to their side as they struggle for options fit for new manager Erik ten Hag’s style of football.
Over the summer, they agreed deals to bring in Casemiro from Real Madrid and Christian Eriksen on a free transfer but need more options to add quality and depth.
Now, they’re considering a move for the Juventus midfielder, who could be an ideal fit for their plans in the coming transfer windows as they look to strengthen.
McKennie to Man Utd is a possibility
According to journalist Simon Phillips, McKennie is one of the targets Manchester United have for their midfield and are impressed by his versatility.
McKennie plays centrally but can also play in a deeper midfield role as well as on the right side, which is valuable to Manchester United.
They only have Christian Eriksen who fits in that profile and resting him has a clear effect on how the team play – something Ten Hag is keen to change in the upcoming transfer windows.

Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is still their primary transfer target, but a move for him may prove to be difficult as negotiations will continue to be complicated.
Other than Manchester United, the likes of Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the signing of McKennie and will provide competition for his signature.
The American international has been at Juventus since the summer of 2020 and has made 88 appearances for them across all competitions.
Manchester United could make a move for him as early as the January transfer window and he would provide important cover for other players in the second half of the season.
