Cody Gakpo has spoken about his future at Dutch club PSV amidst rumours of a transfer abroad to Manchester United in January.

Gakpo has been of interest to Manchester United over the last few months, with manager Erik ten Hag being a keen admirer of his talents and growth at PSV.

Other than them, the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid have also been monitoring the Dutch star in recent times and could be tempted to make a move.

Now, he has spoken about his future and says he’s ready to make a move, but it’ll only happen at the end of the season and not midway through it.

Gakpo speaks on transfer

Speaking to Dutch broadcaster NOS, Gakpo spoke about the possibility of a move away from Eindhoven: “I think at the end of this season I will be ready to take that step.

“I feel like I was already that way at the beginning of this season, but after this season I'm even more ready to take the next step,” Gakpo added.

The attacker was then asked about his dream club and it was suggested that he could play at one of Manchester United or Real Madrid, to which he was coy.

“It would be an honour to play there, but I also have to see what kind of team I can best achieve my goals,” Gakpo responded, staying silent on what his most likely destination will be.

Gakpo has been involved in 30 goals this season in 23 appearances: 13 goals and 17 assists – and he has been selected for the Netherlands’ World Cup squad by Louis van Gaal, which is set to fly to Qatar next week.

It was reported earlier in the season that clubs may be looking to get Gakpo on the cheap due to PSV’s financial condition, but Dutch reports suggest he will cost upwards of €50 million if anyone wants him.
